We spent the first part of the day cruising through the Main/Danube Canal...
with its massive locks.
Some of the bridges were quite low.
Because of these low bridges they had to take down the hand rails and all of the chairs and umbrellas on the top deck. In fact, the boats bridge house also lowered into the deck to allow it to clear the bridges.
By mid day we had arrived at our at our final stop, Nüremburg, Germany. We had a tour of the city after lunch that started with a drive around key parts of the city (mainly the old wall and various towers).
Then they dropped us off for our walking tour that focused on the medieval history of the city with the first stop being the old fortress.
The tall tower of the fortress was spared major bombing during WWII as the pilots used the tour as a landmark that allowed them to find Nüremburg and their targets easily.
The next area visited was an older medieval section.

We had time after the tour to wander a bit so we headed back
to The Church of Our Lady that we had seen from the outside during the walkikng tour.
And then over to a recommended ice cream shop for ice cream
cones. The ice cream was very good.
This area is near a small river and is very pretty.

The cruise ship is docked quite a ways from the city center
so we didn’t wander off after the bus returned us to the ship.
It's Gala night, such as it is, so Mary (and most of the ladies) dressed up a bit
for dinner.
Then it was back to the room to pack everything up.
