August 14 – Flight to Brussels (or maybe not)

Today we fly to Belgium.  Or maybe not.  We worked all morning on pictures and then went for a walk.

And then out for lunch where Mary tried the local small sausages and Paul a very good potato soup in an interesting copper pot.

After lunch we caught a taxi to the airport to catch our plane to Brussels.  Except there were no planes scheduled for Brussels.  Long story short, Paul had received a schedule change email from the airline in February and promptly filed it and forgot it as we were up to our ears in packing and getting ready to sell the house at that time.

So after two hours on the phone with Expedia and numerous WhatsAp messages to Tara we had a hotel for the night (at the airport) and a flight to Paris the next morning, very early, to be followed by a train to Brussels.

We headed over to the hotel and unpacked basically the minimum.  We then headed back to the airport for dinner at a very nice restaurant that was outside of security.  Saw a huge, intense rainbow over the runway.

Then it was back to the hotel and to bed as we must get up very early.
